A Quick Hello From Bloggersville...

Ok, I know it has been absurdly long since I was posting with any regularity, but for once it has more to do with my not having a computer than my sheer overwhelming laziness... But, today as I read the (sports) news during my lunch break, I was so awestruck by something that I felt compelled to fire out a quick Blog entry...

People having been getting the feathers all a tither over the Steve Nash MVP vote, which is fine, but how has nobody raised an eyebrow about the Rookie of the Year vote. Sure, Chris Paul won, as he should have, but who the heck was the idiot of gave a vote to Utah point guard Deron Williams? Seriously, if you voted Nash over LeBron I can understand, if you were one of the 20 or so who failed to place Kobe in the top 4 MVP vote I can understand, but to select Williams over Paul... what? How? Who? This is the kind of idiotic manuever that should have somebody lose their voting privledges. A quick look at the numbers:

C. Paul - 16.1 PPG, .430 FG%, 7.8 Ast, 5.1 Reb, 2.24 Stl, 3.5 Ast/TO
D. Williams - 10.8 PPG, .421 FG%, 4.5 Ast, 2.4 Reb, .75 Stl, 2.5 Ast/TO

Yeah, that looks like a tough call, the guy on top leads the guy on the bottom in EVERY meaningful category. John Hollinger's PER for Williams, a below average 12.42, for Paul, a superstar level 22.14. There needs to be some accountability, doesn't there? At least allow the use of cattle prods...
